The purpose of sport at St Pauls is to provide an opportunity for all students to participate in regular and varied physical activity and sports on a weekly basis. The aim of this program is to develop the following:

  • fitness, by adding to students’ current physical activity
  • physical skills
  • social skills
  • peer relations between different year groups
  • an appreciation of exercise and the enjoyment that can be gained from it
  • an opportunity for teachers to be involved with a broad range of students in an environment outside the classroom
  • experience competition and teamwork
  • leadership skills
  • the fostering of a spirit of fellowship and good sportsmanship

Students who are selected to compete in sporting teams, represent St Pauls in the Metropolitan Catholic Schools MCS Competition. The MCS then selects players from its competing schools to take part in the Combined Catholic Colleges CCC competition. From here, players may be selected to compete for the CCC at NSW and then into the Australian All Schools Competition.
